Helene Lindmark

Known as GrandMother Helen, Hélène Lindmark is a respected figure of the Sami people, the last Indigenous People of Europe. Born in the village of Liikavaara in northern Sweden, she reconnected with her roots in the 1990s after a youth spent away from her culture. A recipient of shamanic knowledge passed down by her elders, she now raises her voice against the destruction of Sami territories by the mining industry.

She bears witness to the painful history of her people and, through her journey, embodies the resilience and strength of Indigenous memory at the heart of the project Amazonia, the Heart of Mother Earth.
