Jean-Paul Vanderlinden

Professor of ecological economics and environmental studies at the Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (UVSQ) and director of the CEARC laboratory (Cultures, Environnements, Arctique, Représentations, Climat), Jean-Paul Vanderlinden specializes in the governance of climate risks and transdisciplinary approaches. In 2021, he was awarded a prestigious ERC Advanced Grant for his project PREFER, which explores lay ethics in the face of existential risks within communities experiencing the collapse of their vital ecosystems.

His openness to Indigenous knowledge and his commitment to dialogue between Western science and ancestral knowledge naturally led him to collaborate with Planète Amazone. As an associate expert, he played a key role in awarding UVSQ’s title of Doctor Honoris Causa to the Cacique Raoni, a major academic recognition for an Indigenous leader. He also supports the project Amazonia, the Heart of Mother Earth as a scientific advisor, helping to build bridges across disciplines and cultures.
