Alessandra Sampaio
Alessandra Sampaio is a writer and activist born in Bahia, where she first worked as a journalist and poet. Widow of Dom Phillips — who was murdered in 2022 while investigating threats to the Amazon — she founded the Dom Phillips Institute to carry on his commitment to the forest and its defenders.
A speaker at numerous international forums, she advocates placing Indigenous peoples at the heart of climate decision-making. She is now involved in the Amazonia, the Heart of Mother Earth project as a partner and ambassador.
